She was a member of the kawaii metal band Babymetal from 2010 to 2018 . At the same time, she was a member of the idol pop group Sakura Gakuin from 2010 to 2015 . She also worked as a model and actress .

biography

In 2007 Mizuno was signed by the talent agency Amuse . She initially worked primarily as a model for the children's magazines Shōgaku Ichinensei ( 小学 一年 生 ) and Pucchigumi ( ぷ っ ち ぐ み ). In 2008, she was in a commercial company Bandai to see where they Memorabilia of the anime series Pretty Cure praised. In 2009 and 2010 she had minor roles in three television series . Also in 2010 she appeared on the theatrical stages in Tokyo , Osaka and Nagoya - in the play Departures , which is based on the film Okuribito .

In August 2010, Mizuno joined the Amuse-led pop idol group Sakura Gakuin . This addresses everyday school life and is composed of several subgroups that are based on various leisure activities organized by schools. One of these subgroups was the Jūon-bu ( 重音 部 ), the "club for hard music" (consisting of Mizuno, Moa Kikuchi and Suzuka Nakamoto ), whose performances took place under the name Babymetal . She also belonged to two other subgroups, Twinklestars and Mini-pati . Together with Kikuchi, she appeared in several episodes of TV Kanagawa's children's show Saku saku from 2011 to 2013 , as well as in commercials for W-LAN services from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 2012 . The management of Amuse decided in 2013 to continue Babymetal as an independent project because of its unexpectedly great success. Mizuno also remained a member of Sakura Gakuin for two years until she left in March 2015.

Within Babymetal, Mizuno and Kikuchi formed the subgroup "Black Babymetal", who sang in a duet when Nakamoto was not on stage. Mizuno is the co-author of song 4 ( 4 の 歌 , Yon no uta ) on the debut album Babymetal ; the song is about the widespread superstition in Asia about the number 4. At the Alternative Press Music Awards 2016 she played electric guitar when Babymetal performed the song Breaking the Law by Judas Priest with Rob Halford .

After she had not been at two concerts in Hiroshima in December 2017 , she was also absent in May 2018 for the start of the USA tour. Since this happened without giving any reason, it led to numerous speculations among fans. Following a request from Alternative Press magazine , a spokesman for 5B Management, the artist agency responsible for North America, stated: "Yuimetal will remain a member of the band but will not be on the ongoing US tour". Mizuno was also absent from the subsequent European tour. On October 19, 2018, Amuse published a message on the band's website that she had left the band for health reasons.

Yui Mizuno later published his own statement. Mizuno said she left Babymetal in order to fulfill her long-cherished dream of a solo career.
