Mob Psycho 100 ( Japanese モ ブ サ イ コ 100 , Mobu Saiko 100 ) is a Japanese web mangaka of the mangaka ONE , which was published from April 2012 to December 2017 and has been published in German by Carlsen Manga since October 2017 . A spin-off web manga called Reigen by ONE has been published in Japan since March 2018 .

The twelve-part anime adaptation, which was released with German subtitles shortly after the Japanese airing of Crunchyroll , was broadcast in Japan over the summer of 2016 . Crunchyroll released the entire first season on August 4, 2018, after the premiere of the first episode at Animagic 2018, with German synchronization. The anime got a summary film in 2018, which tells the events of the series from an autobiographical point of view from Mob's mentor Arataka Reigen. A second season was confirmed in March 2018 and aired on Japanese television from January 7, 2019. In addition, a stage play was performed and a Japanese live series published in January 2018.

action

The story follows the male protagonist Shigeo Kageyama, also known by his nickname Mob ( モ ブ means "background figure"), in his life as a 13-year-old medium - a person with supernatural, psychic powers. He got his nickname because he is inconspicuous and does not stand out from a crowd. However, the mob largely keeps his powers under lock and key because he prefers to lead a normal life and fears that his powers will harm others. However, when his emotional level reaches 100% his powers get out of control.

In addition to school, Mob works for the impostor and self-proclaimed medium Arataka Reigen. This makes use of Mob's powers for his business, while Mob believes he is an apprentice. Mob can use his powers for good through the orders that Arataka receives. After being recruited for a newly founded religion and defeating its founder, Dimple, an evil spirit, the latter allegedly sided with the mob and persecuted him in order to later benefit from his strong powers. At school, Mob is courted by the Brain Radio Club, but prefers to join the Body Improvement Club to become sportier and more attractive so that he can impress his classmate and sandpit friend Tsubomi Takane, with whom he is in love. But he also gets into a conflict with the gang from another school and gets to know their secret boss, who also has supernatural powers: Teruki Hanazawa. But mob can easily defeat him.

Mob's little brother Ritsu wants the same powers as his brother and secretly envies him. He's also been afraid of the mob ever since he saw the mob lose control of his powers - since then, mob has been particularly reluctant. Ritsu also seeks advice from a laboratory looking for people with supernatural abilities. There he meets some other children with very weak powers, although he does not have any himself. At the same time, as part of the school committee, he takes action against troublemakers at the school and has them expelled - but with deceitful means, which puts a lot of pressure on Ritsu. When Dimple encounters him, he finally arouses supernatural powers because of the strain under which Ritsu is standing. He now feels invincible and gets involved in fights with hooligans from other schools. Eventually Mob arrives and confronts Ritsu, but Mob's brother is kidnapped by an adult after a fight.

Together with Teruki Hanazawa and Dimple, Mob wants to find his brother. They learn that the kidnapper belongs to the organization “Klaue”, which kidnaps children with supernatural abilities, harnesses them for their own purposes and wants to conquer the world. The other children from the laboratory were also kidnapped. So the three set out to save the children and mob's brother. While they penetrate the organization's hidden quarters, the abductees try to escape on their own. It finally comes to a fight against the strongest media of the base, in which Arataka Reigen also participates - for a short time the mob transfers his powers to him after he has almost completely lost control of himself. The fight can be won and the abductees set free. The two brothers have regained their trust in each other and Ritsu regrets his mistakes. Reigen has gained the ability to see ghosts through the transfer of power and is now also using dimples for his business.

Characters

Shigeo Kageyama ( 影 山 茂 夫 , Kageyama Shigeo )
The main character, a 13-year-old eighth grader nicknamed Mob , has paranormal, psychic powers. He has rarely had strong emotions since childhood. Since he believes that he will not need his powers in everyday life, he usually does not use them. He suppresses his emotions in order to keep his powers under control. However, when his emotional level reaches 100%, he "explodes". He leaves out a suppressed emotion as a supernatural force. He works at Arataka Reigen's “Counseling Center for Ghosts and So” for ¥ 300 an hour. He was asked to join the brain radio club so that the club would not be dissolved. However, he decided to join the body improvement club to become more athletic and attractive, thereby impressing his secret love, Tsubomi Takane.
Arataka Reigen ( 霊 幻 新 隆 , Reigen Arataka )
Mobs Meister, a self-proclaimed medium, runs the “counseling center for ghosts and so” ( 霊 と か 相 談 所 , Rei toka sōdansho ), which is the cheapest in comparison to its competitors. Business wasn't going very well, but when he put a website on the Internet, the number of inquiries soared. Essentially, he is a cheater and is characterized by persuasion, language, and perception. He is clever, agile and claims to have a green belt in Shaolin boxing. He solves his customers' problems with a variety of skills or by using what is known as his "secret technique". However, when he has a problem that he cannot solve, he keeps mob busy with his work. Despite being a cheat, he treats mob very calmly and seriously, and mob looks up to him anyway.
Dimple ( エ ク ボ , Ekubo )
An upper class evil spirit. He tried to establish a religion / culture called LOL ( , "Warau"), which was broken up by the mob. After his defeat, his strength dropped drastically, making him very harmless to mobs. He then befriends Mob in order to be able to use Mob's powers for his desire to be a god.
Ritsu Kageyama ( 影 山 律 , Kageyama Ritsu )
Mob's little brother, seventh grader. He's smart, has good grades, and is athletic. In addition, it is well received by the girls. The only thing he doesn't have are medium powers like his brother Mob. He hopes one day to have the same skills as Mob. It may be quite strong, but not nearly as strong as its big brother.
Teruki Hanazawa ( 花 沢 輝 気 , Hanazawa Teruki )
The ura banchō ("hidden boss") of the Kurozu Middle School, or Teru for short . He is a medium like mob. However, unlike mobs, he uses his powers in everyday life, be it in physical education or in tests. Together with his good looks he is also well received by the girls. After his fight against the mob, he changed and no longer uses his powers for fights and rivalries, but to help others.

Adaptations

Anime

An anime version of the web manga was carried out by Studio Bones under the direction of Yuzuru Tachikawa . The main writer is Hiroshi Seko and the scripts were written by Yoshitomo Yonetani and Yuzuru Tachikawa. The music was composed by Kenji Kawai , the character design by Yoshimichi Kameda and the artistic direction was by Ryō Kōno . The opening credits were underlaid with the song 99 by Mob Choir and for the credits, Refrain Boy by All off was used.

The twelve episodes of the series were premiered from July 12th to September 27th 2016 at midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) by Tokyo MX , as well as by Yomiuri TV , BS Fuji and TV Asahi CS in Japan with an offset of up to a week . At the same time, it was published as a simulcast on the Crunchyroll platform , including with German and English subtitles; Due to the time difference, this always happened the day before in western Japan. On August 4, 2018, the opening episode was premiered at the AnimagiC convention by Crunchyroll with German dubbing, before the entire season was published on their online platform a few hours later. Kazé Anime has secured the license to release on DVD and Blu-ray from Crunchyroll.

The one-hour special with the subtitle Reigen ~ Shirarezaru Kiseki Reinōryokusha ~ ( REIGEN ~ 知 ら れ ざ る 奇跡 の 霊 能力 者 ~ 'Reigen ~ The unknown, wondrous Esper ~' ) tells the story of the anime from an autobiographical point of view of Arataka Reigen and offers a quarter new scenes that did not appear in the series. It was first shown in two special screenings on March 18, 2018 at Chiba's Maihama Amphitheater in Japan. A second season of the series was also announced, again directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa. The DVDs and Blu-rays offered at the event went on sale on March 23, 2018, as well as a streaming offer on the Crunchyroll platform under the title Mob Psycho 100 Reigen ~ The Unknown Guy with Powers ~ , again with subtitles among others in German. Kazé Anime announced that it will release the OVA on DVD and Blu-ray.

The 13-part second season was first broadcast on Japanese television from January 7 to April 1, 2019, starting again with Tokyo MX, and with an offset of up to three days also on Yomiuri TV, BS Fuji, TV Asahi CS and AT- X . Crunchyroll again offers the episodes shortly after the broadcast on their platform with subtitles in different languages, including German. The first two episodes of the season were screened for the first time on November 17, 2018 at Anime NYC in New York City and on December 20, 2018 in Shinjuku , Japan. The Asian premiere of the first episode took place on December 2nd.

In July 2019, Crunchyroll announced that the second season and the one-hour OVA had been dubbed in German and that they would be released on Crunchyroll on August 28, 2019 (OVA) and October 16, 2019 (season 2). The OVA was published on the announced day under the title Eine Geisterstunde der Bossonderen Art in German.

Following the finale of the second season, another OVA was titled Dai Ikkai Rei to ka Sōdansho Ianryokō ~ Kokoro Mitasu Iyashi no Tabi ~ ( 第一 回 霊 と か 相 談 所 慰 安 旅行 ~ コ コ ロ 満 た す 癒 や し の 旅 'The first super cheap excursion the advisor for ghosts and stuff like that ~ A relaxing journey for heart and soul ~ ' ) announced, the subsequent plot of which comes from the mangaka ONE. It premiered on August 31, 2019 at the Crunchyroll Expo and was released on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan on September 25, 2019. Crunchyroll has also been offering the OVA (running time of a regular episode) since September 25, 2019 in German time with, among other things, German subtitles and has been added to the second season. In addition, the OVA appeared together with the second season on October 16, 2019 with German synchronization.
