The ship was in service as Banasa until 2012 and was originally supposed to be scrapped in 2015 in Aliağa, Turkey , but was instead bought by Moby Lines and towed to Valletta for renovation work . The Moby Kiss was put back into service in 2016 and has been in service on the route from Livorno to Bastia ever since .

history

Mette Mols

The Mette Mols in Helsingor, September 1978

The Mette Mols was commissioned in the Helsingør Skibsværft in June 1972 and laid down on September 13, 1973 under the shipyard number 405. The launch took place on July 26, 1974. The ship was delivered to the Danish Molslinjen in February 1975 and put into service on March 18, 1975 on the route from Ebeltoft to Odden Færgehavn .

The first months of service of the Mette Mols were overshadowed by several technical problems: In May 1975 the ship had to be repaired after a fire in the engine room in Aarhus . In January 1976 there was also an explosion in the engine room and another fire in February. In 1985 Mette Mols was rebuilt after ownership changed to J. Lauritzen A / S in Copenhagen in the same year . The operator was still the Molslinjen.

Mette Mo

From March 1996 the ship was under the name Mette Mo in service before it was decommissioned in July 1996 and laid up in Grenaa , Denmark .

Banassa / Banasa

The Morocco- based shipping company Comarit became the new owner in November 1996 and renamed the ship Banassa . That same month, however, the name was changed to Banasa . The Banasa was henceforth used on the route from Tangier to Algeciras .

In May 2003 the ship broke down due to an engine failure. It was therefore completely modernized in Frederikshavn and Hamburg and equipped with a new machine system. In May 2004, the Banasa returned to service after exactly one year.

In May 2012 the ship was launched in Algeciras after Comarit had to file for bankruptcy. The Banasa stayed there for more than three years before it was sold to Turkey for scrapping in August 2015. On August 21, the ship arrived in Aliağa and was pulled ashore there for scrapping.

Galaxy

In November 2015 it was sold for further use. The Banasa was therefore pulled from the beach again and towed to Perama , where it was named Galaxy .

Moby Kiss

In December the ship, renamed Moby Kiss , was sold to the Italian Moby Lines and towed to Valletta for modernization, where it was rebuilt. It is now used regularly on the route from Livorno to Bastia.

In 2017 the ship received new Wärtsilä diesel generators.
