Setup date 1984

The Moosbachtal nature reserve is located in the Südwestpfalz district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 111 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1984 , extends west of the core town of Dahn . The Moosbach flows through the area. The Wieslauter flows to the east and the B 427 runs along it .

The purpose of protection is to maintain and secure the near-natural to natural plant communities in the reservoirs , in particular the rare and endangered plant communities such as the floating leaf corridors and the silting areas of the ponds, the water and bank vegetation of the Moosbach and Seibertsbach , the various wet meadows, the swamp forests , the dry sandy areas and slopes and finally the near-natural forests and the rare, endangered animal populations of the entire area that form a community with them. The protection purpose is still the preservation and stabilization of individual succession stages and finally the promotion and increase of the diversity of the entire area for scientific reasons and because of their rarity and endangerment of communities and habitats.
