Morten Lund (* 13. September 1972 in Viborg ) is a Danish jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Lund comes from a musical family; his father played drums, trumpet and guitar; his mother flute. He started playing drums at the age of six and had his first professional appearances at the age of 15. From 1993 he attended the Det Jyske Music Conservatory in Aarhus , the following year he played in the Klüvers Big Band , with which the first recordings were made, and with Katrine Madsen . After graduating in 1997, he moved to Copenhagen to work in the local music scene. In 2002 he played at Jazzpar Sixtet under the direction of Enrico Rava , from which the 2003 trio with Stefano Bollani , initially directed by Jesper Bodilsen , emerged ( Mi ritorni in mente 2004), with which he also made a guest appearance at Birdland in New York and which still exists today. In 2006 he was awarded the Ben Webster Prize as the best Danish jazz musician . In the field of jazz he was involved in 57 recording sessions between 1996 and 2013, including a. with Jan Lundgren , Ulf Wakenius , Cæcilie Norby , Doug Raney , Sidsel Storm , Yelena Eckemoff , Adam Bałdych or Iiro Rantala .
