Montville is a French municipality with 4760 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-Maritime in the region Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rouen and the canton of Bois-Guillaume . The inhabitants are called Montvillais .

geography

Montville is located on the River Cailly , a tributary of the Seine , into which the Clérette flows here. Montville is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Anceaumeville in the north and northwest, Mont-Cauvaire in the north and northeast, Bosc-Guérard-Saint-Adrien in the east, Malaunay in the south and Eslettes in the west.

history

Montville has been documented since the 11th century. A church had existed since 1030. In August 1845 a tornado devastated the industrial facilities. About 70 people were killed.
