It belongs to the arrondissement of Rouen and the canton of Le Mesnil-Esnard (until 2015: canton Darnétal ). The inhabitants are called ryais .

Ry is about 19 kilometers east-northeast of Rouen . Ry is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Blainville-Crevon in the north and northwest, Saint-Aignan-sur-Ry in the north and northeast, Saint-Denis-le-Thiboult in the south and east, Martainville-Épreville in the southeast and Grainville-sur-Ry in the West.
