Buildings

The Château des Lions was built around 1650. The castle was restored from 1810 to 1817. It belongs to the city today. The monastic residential building of the Pénitents Sainte-Barbe (penitent community Barbara of Nicomedia ) was donated to the penitents in 1472 by a local resident. During the Huguenot Wars, the monastery was devastated and re-consecrated in 1605. The building was rebuilt from 1670 to 1700. A new church was consecrated in 1732. The monastery was closed during the French Revolution . In the 19th century the monastery was converted into an orphanage, retirement home and boarding school, so the buildings were expanded until 1880. Today it is privately owned and in 1995 it was partially entered in the additional directory of the Monuments historiques.
