The Municipio Ichoca is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The Municipio Ichoca is one of six Municipios of the Inquisivi Province and is located in the western part of the province. It borders the province of Loayza to the west, the Oruro department and the Municipio Colquiri to the south, the Municipio Inquisivi to the east , and the Municipio Quime to the north .
The municipality has 78 localities ( localidades ), the administrative seat of the municipality and the most populous place is Ichoca with 1,326 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the central part of the district.
geography
The municipality of Ichoca is located at an average altitude of 4000 m southeast of the Quimsa Cruz Cordillera , between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a distinct time-of-day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the seasonal fluctuations.
The mean average temperature of the region is 9.5 ° C, due to the altitude around 1 ° C lower than the neighboring town of Quime (see climate diagram), the monthly average temperatures vary between 6 ° C in June / July and just under 12 ° C in November /December. The annual precipitation is almost 600 mm, from May to August there is a dry season with monthly precipitation below 15 mm, in the months of January and February there is a long-term average between 120 and 130 mm of rain.

The municipality had a population density of 8.9 inhabitants / km² at the last census in 2012 . The life expectancy of newborns in 2001 was only 52.0 years, and infant mortality rose from 5.4 percent ( 1992 ) to 10.6 percent in 2001.
