NF (rapper)
Nathan John Feuerstein (/ ˈfɔɪərstaɪn /; born March 30, 1991 in Gladwin , Michigan ), known by his stage name NF , is an American rapper and songwriter, known from hip-hop and mainstream hip-hop . In 2014, the album NF was released in collaboration with Capitol CMG , with which he made his breakthrough on the Billboard charts. He has released four studio albums to date: Mansion (2015), Therapy Session (2016), Perception (2017) and The Search (2019).
Life
NF, born Nathan John Feuerstein on March 30, 1991 in Gladwin, Michigan , lived with his father after their parents divorced. When he was 18 years old, his mother took her own life. He then dedicated the song "How Could You Leave Us" to her, in which he discussed his longing for her, the resulting psychological problems and his allegations against her.
In 2009 he graduated from Gladwin High School, where he played for the basketball team. NF began his career at the Fine Arts Festival with Connection Church in Canton, Michigan. In September 2018, NF married his partner Bridgette Doremus.
Career
By its own account, NF began rapping during his childhood. On November 29, 2010 he released his debut album Moments under his real name , which was, however, distributed by himself and not by a label. In 2012 he was signed by the Xist label, under which he released the EP I'm Free on May 2, 2012 . The album consisted of nine titles, including the track Alone , which was released three months after its release as a single . After disputes, NF left the label, in 2014 Feuerstein signed with the Capitol Christian Music Group , which is part of Universal Music .
Shortly after the contract was signed, on August 5, 2014, Feuerstein published the EP NF under Capitol CMG . With this album he made it to the Billboard charts for the first time , where he reached 15th place in the top rap albums and fourth in the top gospel albums. The EP received four stars in a review by CCM Magazine , and it was also noted that Feuerstein's style was very similar to Eminem's . NF's first studio album, Mansion , was released on March 31, 2015.
On April 22, 2016, NF's second studio album Therapy Session was released . The single I Just Wanna Know was released two weeks in advance , the second Real was released at the same time as the album. On September 8, 2016, NF released the single Warm Up , which had not been included on any album until then.
NF released his third studio album, Perception , on October 6, 2017 through his own label NF Real Music . The album immediately debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 . Perception was thus Feuerstein's first number one album, and he was only the second artist in 2017 whose album entered the Billboard 200 at number one without having previously been listed on the Billboard Hot 100 . The first single from the album Let You Down debuted at number 87 on the Billboard Hot 100. After the album's success, NF went on tour with rappers Logic and Kyle . On January 11, 2019, Perception was awarded platinum status by the Recording Industry Association of America with one million units sold .
On January 19 and June 18, 2018, NF released two more singles. On May 30, 2019, the single The Search, including the music video , was released via YouTube as the first extraction from the album of the same name, which was released on July 26, 2019. On June 27, 2019, the album's second single, When I Grow Up , was released, followed by Time , on July 12, 2019 .
