NGC 7462 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Crane in the southern sky , which is an estimated 47 million light years away from the Milky Way . The galaxies NGC 7412 , NGC 7424 , NGC 7456 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 16, 1834 by the astronomer John Herschel with his 18.7 inch reflector telescope and was later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
