The NSU 8/24 PS was a middle-class passenger car that Neckarsulmer Fahrzeugwerke Aktiengesellschaft built from 1911 to 1918 and then again from 1921 to 1925. It was the successor to the 9/22 hp and 9/27 hp models .

The water-cooled engine was again a four-cylinder block engine , this time with a displacement of 2110 cm³ (bore × stroke = 80 × 104 mm), which initially produced 24 hp (18 kW) at 1800 rpm. This engine had a triple bearing crankshaft, magneto ignition , pressure circulation lubrication and standing valves in an L-cylinder head. The fuel tank was in the back. The fuel was pumped forward into the carburetor through the exhaust gases. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a multi-disc clutch in an oil bath, a four-speed gearbox with a link shift on the left and a cardan shaft . The wheelbase of the cars had shrunk by 200 mm to 3100 mm, their track width by 50 mm to 1250 mm. The car weight was 1500 kg and the top speed was around 70 km / h. The model was produced in this version until 1918.

The new edition of the model in 1921 had a 126 mm larger wheelbase of 3026 mm with unchanged external dimensions and the engine output was 30 hp (22 kW) at 2100 rpm. gone up. An electric lighting system and an electric starter with a voltage level of 12 V were standard. The 8/24 hp was now only available as a touring car and sedan and drove up to 85 km. For the two-seater, which weighed around 120 kg, there were bodies from Schebera , Autenrieth or the Weinsberg bodywork . These sports cars, type 8/24 PS Sport, reached speeds of up to 100 km / h. These two models were manufactured until 1925. Then it was replaced by the more powerful 8 / 40PS .
