Erlenbruch Düstere Siepen nature reserve

The Erlenbruch Düstere Siepen nature reserve with a size of 0.61 hectares is located in the Upper Arnsberg Forest northwest of Grimlinghausen in the municipality of Bestwig . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Bestwig landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is an alder break with the Düstere Siepen brook. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the alder break and its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area was designated as a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
