from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Eidmecketalsystem with a size of 29.59 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest north of Nuttlar in the municipality of Bestwig . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Bestwig landscape plan. The NSG is divided into a large western part and a small eastern part by the L 776. To the east of the nature reserve there is a partial area of the landscape protection area of the Schlebornbach valley system. After about 100 meters you will find the nature reserve Schlebornbach / Düstere Siepen by the stream . There the Eidmecke (different spelling Eitmecke) flows into the Schlebornbach , which flows into the Ruhr near Nuttlar .

Area description

The NSG is the Eidmecketal system with broken forest relics. In addition to the Eidmecke, four tributaries and their sources are recorded by the NSG. The quarry forest is a red alder quarry forest . There are grassland areas on the eastern part of the NSG. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the Eidmecketalsystem with its species.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
