from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The depth hollow - Kottensiepen nature reserve with a size of 2.78 hectares is located in the Upper Arnsberg Forest north of Grimlinghausen in the municipality of Bestwig in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Bestwig landscape plan. The city of Olsberg borders directly to the north and south-east . In the city of Olsberg there is the nature reserve of the same name Tief Hohl - Kottensiepen (Olsberg) . This NSG in Olsberg borders on this NSG both north and south, as the other parts of the stream of Kottensiepen and Tief Hohl are located there.

Area description

The NSG is the Kottensiepen and Tief Hohl mit Aue brooks . Within the NSG, the Kottensiepen flows into the deep hollow. The meadow is occupied by grassland. Parts of the grassland in the NSG fell fallow. Part of the grassland is wet, wet and lean grassland. Red alder mainly grows along the streams . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG should protect the brooks with floodplains and their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
