In the municipality of Bestwig there is the adjacent nature reserve of the same name, Tief Hohl - Kottensiepen (Bestwig) .

Area description

The NSG is the Kottensiepen and Tief Hohl mit Aue brooks . The meadow is occupied by grassland. Parts of the grassland in the NSG fell fallow. Part of the grassland is wet, wet and lean grassland. Red alder mainly grows along the streams . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG should protect the brooks with floodplains and their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
