The nature reserve Medebachtal and headwaters with a size of 50.7  ha is located south of Bruchhausen in the urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the headwaters from the Medebach and the stream with the floodplain to the village. In the village, at the confluence of the Lutterbecke and the Medebach, the Gierskoppbach becomes .

Protection purpose

In the NSG, the source area there and the stream are to be protected. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
