Sperrenberg nature reserve

The nature reserve Sperrenberg with a size of 5.9  ha is located south of Wiemeringhausen in the urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a grassland area in the forest with extensively grazed wet, wet and lean grassland. There are seepage springs in the area. To the north, the nature reserve of the clearing island Sperrenberg borders with further grassland.

Protection purpose

The grassland there is to be protected in the NSG. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
