Elpe and Bremecketal nature reserve
The Elpe and Bremecketal nature reserve with a size of 11.2 hectares is located north of Elpe in the urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan . To the south is the Elpetal nature reserve below Elpe . To the north follows the Olsberg nature reserve .
Area description
The NSG consists of the Elpe and Bremecke rivers , as well as the floodplains of both rivers.
Protection purpose
In the NSG, the two rivers and the floodplain are to be protected. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
