from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Faule and Lange Siepen with a size of 57.9  ha is located in the Upper Arnsberg Forest in the northern urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan . The NSG consists of two areas. The municipality of Bestwig borders directly to the west . In the north it borders the urban area of Warstein .

Area description

In the NSG, the western part of the area is the Faulen Siepen creek system . The stream Faulen Siepen flows on the city limits. The stream Lange Siepen flows from the south to the Faulen Siepen . The Landgrafenspring brook is located in the eastern part of the area .

In the NSG there are alder quarries and alluvial forests. A red beech forest was included in the NSG. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG should protect the brooks with floodplains and their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
