Nature reserve Im Hagen

The Im Hagen nature reserve with a size of 41.9  hectares is located north of Gevelinghausen in the urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan . The Steinberg / Im Hagen nature reserve is directly adjacent to the municipality of Bestwig .

Area description

The NSG is the wooded mountain ridge of Losenberg and Im Hagen (Olsberg) . The forest consists of red beech or oak-beech forest.

Protection purpose

The deciduous forest there is to be protected in the NSG. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
