from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hiesecke nature reserve with a size of 7.9  hectares is located in the Upper Arnsberg Forest in the northern urban area of Olsberg in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2004 with the Olsberg landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the Hiesecke stream with floodplains and a birch quarry. A rare plant species occurs in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the brook with floodplain and the birch quarry with their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
