Siebersbruch nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Siebersbruch nature reserve with a size of 4.79 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest in the municipality of Bestwig . In 1985 the Arnsberg district government designated a nature reserve (NSG). In 2008, the area was again designated as being by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Bestwig landscape plan. The NSG borders directly on the Lörmecketalsystem nature reserve in the north . It also belongs to the Lörmecketal system, but was set as an independent NSG because it is largely a previously designated NSG and it represents an outstanding landscape element.

Area description

The NSG is the Siebersbruch. The quarry is a light, old quarry forest, partly rich in peat moss, with red alder and birch trees . The spring area with black alder and red spruce was also included in the NSG like a red beech population with holly . A nameless stream flows from the source northwards towards Lörmecke . Even in the NSG, this stream flows through a water pond. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the break area with its species.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
