The Krudtscheider Bach , also Krutscheider Bach, is a right tributary of the Kleine Düssel in the west of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Wuppertal and in the east of the small town of Haan .
Location and topography
The Krudtscheider Bach rises at 230 meters above sea level. NN on the federal motorway 46 in the Wuppertal district of Vohwinkel in the Westring residential area and initially flows in a northerly direction. After a few hundred meters it passes under an industrial area, the federal highway 228 and the Düsseldorf – Elberfeld railway line at the level of the former Vohwinkel marshalling yard .
North of the tracks of Bach its way back to and touch the nature reserve Dolinengelände Krutscheid. The stream turns to the west, passes the Simonshöfchen prison , crosses the city limits to the Haan district of Gruiten and flows out at 133 meters above sea level. NN in the Kleine Düssel, a tributary of the Düssel .
In addition to the nature reserve, the abandoned limestone quarry Grube 10, located just beyond the city limits of Haan, is ecologically valuable.

The Krudtscheid sinkhole nature reserve covers an area of 18.8 hectares. Protection took place
- for the preservation and development of the existing biotope complex as a refuge and regeneration area for animal and plant species bound to limestone beech forests , orchards and humid locations
- Preservation and development of the structural wealth of the forest complex consisting of old wood stands with a high proportion of dead and old wood, rich herbaceous and shrub layers and light coppice stands
- for the development of the formerly existing small-climatically favored, covey forest border biotopes with dry grass structures on the southwestern edge of the area
- to preserve the wet and wet grassland with spring stream and small bodies of water, wet fallow land and the bounding hedge structures , the fresh to dry grassland areas in the transition to the forest areas
- For geological and geological reasons and because of the special character of the culturally and historically significant structures with karst relief (sinkholes) in mass limestone , shaped by historical small excavations, stream shrinkage , rock outcrops , orchard meadow with standard fruit
