The Neuburger Kammeroper e. V. is an institution that has been playing in the city theater of Neuburg an der Donau since 1969 and brings rarely performed works of music theater from the 18th and 19th centuries to the stage.

history

In 1868 the citizens of Neuburg had the superfluous ducal Zehentstadel in the historic old town converted into a late Biedermeier theater. After a thorough renovation under the Head of Culture Anton Sprenzel, it was reopened in 1969. The opera singer and director Horst Vladar , who grew up in Neuburg, founded the Neuburg Chamber Opera with Anton Sprenzel and his brother Heinrich Wladarsch (1939–2013) on this occasion. She brings new productions to the stage every summer and has made it her business to present (almost) unknown operas. It is now supported by the city and the district.

The musical direction or rehearsal took over u. a. Ralph Toursel, Georg Zettel, Reiner Baum, Markus Baisch, Markus Poschner , Stefan Klingele, Hartmut Hudeczek and Alois Rottenaicher . Set designers were u. a. Heinrich Wladarsch, Petra Mollerus, Ulrich Hüstebeck (1938–2014) and Michele Lorenzini. The translators and editors were Annette Vladar and Horst Vladar. The latter is the artistic director and has directed since 1969, until 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 Michael Hoffmann also staged one of the two one-act plays. The vocal soloists are mostly committed to other houses. In addition, the orchestra of the Munich Academic Orchestra Association can be heard here on a regular basis. The choristers and some of the technicians are amateurs.

Staging of rarely performed operas

The Neuburg Chamber Opera is known for its performances of rarities. Most of the operas and operettas, which were always staged here in German, had only been played little or not at all since they were written. The performance material had to be specially prepared from handwritten sources.

Over the years, over fifty works of cheerful music theater - including numerous examples of opera buffa , dramma giocoso , opéra comique , Singspiel and Liederspiel - have been heard again in scenic performances . So far have been played:
