history
At the beginning of the 18th century, the settlement of the Zittau council village Großschönau had become so densely populated that in 1719 a small settlement for damask weavers was established on the mill meadow south of the village on the Lausur. The founder and financier of the settlement was the damask factor Johann Goldberg († 1749). In the years 1730 to 1760 Neuschönau was expanded to a village by 47 new cottages. Between 1730 and 1731 Goldberg had the Kretscham built, which after its completion in the summer of 1731 was designated as a court Kretscham for Neuschönau; Today it is run as a country inn "Bad Neuschönau". In 1769 the old land bridge was built at the western end of the village, on which the road from Warnsdorf to Waltersdorf crossed the Lausur.
The municipality of Neuschönau consisted of the village at the confluence of the Waltersdorfer Dorfbach in the Lausur, the houses on the Mühlwiese between Lausur and Obermühlgraben and the former farm. At the transition to the 19th century, the lower and upper cattle path houses were built along the road from Großschönau to Waltersdorf. Neuschönau was parish after Großschönau.
In 1867 the Neuschönau village was incorporated into Großschönau. In the 1970s, Neuschönau was expanded to include a housing estate east of the Viehbig.
