Ng'andu Peter Magande (born July 5, 1947 ) is a politician in Zambia .

education

Ng'andu Magande is trained as an agricultural economist. Between 1971 and 1979 he held various trainee positions in the Ministry of Agriculture, the World Bank , the Swedish International Development Corporation , the German Society for Technical Cooperation of the EU and the African Development Bank .

Ng'andu Magande then became a businessman, civil servant and minister. His beginnings lie in the successful tobacco cultivation and parallel to this in his work as permanent secretary from 1983 to 1994. In 1986 he became a director in the Lima Bank and in 1991 in the Zambia National Commercial Bank. In 1991 he also took over a board seat in the Industrial Development Corporation of Zambia . 1993 came a board seat in the Zambia Industrial and Mining Company Ltd. added. In 1994 he broke off all these activities and devoted himself to the Technical Assistance Consultancy . In 1996 he was appointed Secretary General of the ACP countries , his first international office which he held until 2000. In July 2003 he was appointed Minister of Finance of Zambia, an appointment that was confirmed in the 2006 cabinet. Ng'andu Magande holds a mandate ( Chilanga ) in the National Assembly of Zambia .

Ng'andu Magande "is one of the guinea pigs for harmonization at international level" (is one of the laboratory animals for harmonization at international level). This is in stark contrast to the name Ng'andu, which means royal crocodile in Bemba . He is said to have great negotiating skills and a good sense of mediation and diplomacy. He is considered an excellent expert on the United Nations and the European Union .

Private life

Ng'andu Magande has three daughters and two sons with his wife Joyce. They run a large estate near Choma , where they mainly grow tobacco.
