George Mpombo
George Wello Mpombo (born January 1, 1954 ) is a politician in Zambia .
George Mpombo is a member of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy and sits since 2001 for the constituency Kafalafuta in the province of Copperbelt in the district Masaiti in the National Assembly of Zambia . He was Deputy Minister of the Southern Province in 2002 , then Minister for Energy and Hydropower Development from April 2003 to 2005, and was dismissed on October 6, 2005 due to an oil shortage caused by rising world market prices from US $ 22 in 2003 to US $ 68 in 2005 it affected the copper mining industry. He then became Minister of the Copperbelt Province in November 2005. Since October 2006 he has been Minister of Defense in Zambia.
