The name goes back to the illuminator of Georgia , Saint Nino , who is written in many languages, especially Slavic, with a at the end, is quite common in Slavic countries and has spread in the rest of Europe.
In most of the European languages, the name Nina developed from the short form of names that end with the syllable "-ina" ( Katharina , Alina , Antonina ...). Other forms are ninette and ninon . Name days are January 14th, February 24th, April 29th, May 14th, June 2nd and December 15th.
In the Quechua language "Nina" means something like fire or embers. It is also used as a woman's name by the indigenous peoples of the Andes .
