Nicholas "Nick" Miller (born May 1, 1993 in Carlisle ) is a British hammer thrower .

Athletic career

Nick Miller gained his first international experience at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Barcelona , where he was eliminated with 67.46 m in qualification. In 2013 he took part in the U23 European Championships in Tampere , Finland , where he finished ninth with 66.64 m. At the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow he won the silver medal for England starting with 72.99 m and only had to admit defeat to the Canadian James Steacy . In 2015 he won the U23 European Championships in Tallinn with 74.46 m and also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he finished eleventh with 72.94 m in the final .

In 2016 he failed at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 67.76 m in qualification, as well as at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where 70.83 m was not enough for a final . A year later he finished sixth in the hammer throw final at the World Championships in London with 77.31 m . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he won the gold medal with a new game and national record of 80.26 m ahead of the Australian Matthew Denny and the Scots Mark Dry . He qualified for the European Championships in Berlin , where he finished tenth with 73.16 m in the final.

In 2014 and 2015, as well as from 2017 to 2019 , Miller was the British Hammer Throw Champion. He is a student of criminology and nutrition at Oklahoma State University - Stillwater .
