Nicholetta Rangoni Machiavelli (born August 1, 1944 in Stuffione , Modena , † November 15, 2015 in Seattle , Washington ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Nicoletta Machiavelli comes from the family of the Florentine politician Niccolò Machiavelli .

Machiavelli became known with Luigi Zampa's sarcastic comedy from 1966 A Question of Honor (Una questione d'onore) , in which she plays Domenicangela, alongside Ugo Tognazzi, his wife. Tognazzi hides as a murder suspect and occasionally returns to Domenicangela. When he becomes pregnant, the public believes in a lover; so he should kill his supposedly unfaithful wife. Zampa also engaged Nicoletta Machiavelli for the episodic comedy Our Husbands (1966).

This was followed by Spaghetti Westerns like head money: Ein Dollar (1967) with Burt Reynolds , Eine Flut von Dollars (1967) with Thomas Hunter , More Dead Than Alive (1968) with Arthur Kennedy , Hasse Thy Neighbor (1968) with George Eastman and Horst Frank as well Giarrettiera Colt (1967), in which she has to do with a gun smuggler gang as a gunslinger. Beside Mike Connors she played the classy Sylvia in Our Man in Rio and at Zampa she was one of the leading actresses in the frivolous comedy Ladies, Ladies (with Virna Lisi , Ursula Andress , Claudine Auger and Marisa Mell ).

She was also on the star cast of Christian Marquands Candy with Marlon Brando , Charles Aznavour and Richard Burton . Ken Annakin engaged Machiavelli for his star ensemble (including Bourvil , Tony Curtis , Marie Dubois , Gert Fröbe ) for the Monte Carlo Rally . After the western wave subsided, Machiavelli played in thrillers such as Murder in the Black Cadillac (1969) and a guest role in the US television series Your appearance, Al Mundy as Varina in the episode Who Offers Two Million? .

In the 1970s, she had her best role in 1973 as Sylva in Dino Risi's A Fucking Weekend alongside Marcello Mastroianni and Oliver Reed . In Germany she shot under Fritz Umgelter in 1972 in the female lead of Amalie in The Strange Life Story of Friedrich Freiherrn von der Trenck with Matthias Habich .

She then partnered with Alain Delons in the films Tony Arzenta and Eiskalt wie das Schweigen . In 1974 she played the supporting role of Luce Lapade in Andrzej Żuławski's Nachtblende alongside Romy Schneider . In Bernard Toublanc-Michel's thriller The Malicious Pleasure , she was suspected of murder with Claude Jade and Anny Duperey . This was followed by the comedy Two Sanctimonious Brothers (1977) with Jean Gabin and Jean-Claude Brialy and Liliana Cavani's Nietzsche drama Beyond Good and Evil (1978). Nicoletta Machiavelli made her last film with Bernard Blier and Michel Bouquet in 1983 with La fuite en avant .

Machiavelli had lived in Seattle since retiring from the movie business and taught language and cooking classes. There she died on November 15, 2015 at the age of 71.
