Nikolai Fyodorowitsch Makarov
Nikolai Fedorovich Makarov ( Russian Николай Фёдорович Макаров ; born May 9 . Jul / 22. May 1914 greg. In sasovo ; † 13. May 1988 in Tula ) was a Russian weapons design engineer .

Makarov, the son of a railway machinist , worked as a locksmith in the Sassowo railway repair shop after attending the railway technical school. In 1936 he began studying at the Tula Mechanics Institute . At the beginning of the German-Soviet war , he was with a bachelor's degree as an engineer after Sagorsk sent to the factory, the machine gun PPSh-41 produced and soon after vyatskiye polyany was moved. There Makarov quickly rose from master to leading designer. In 1944 he graduated from the Tula Mechanics Institute with distinction. He then worked at the SPWA research institute in Kunzewo (now part of Moscow ) as chief designer until the end of the war. Then he moved to the central design office ZKB-14 in Tula (now design office for device construction ).
Makarow developed the Makarow (PM) pistol named after him in 1948 , which has been in use since 1951. In 1954 he developed together with Nikolai Mikhailovich Afanasyev the automatic cannon afanasev makarov am-23 aircraft. Under Makarov's direction, the anti-tank guided weapons 9K111 Fagot and 9K113 Konkurs were developed in parallel .
When Makarov retired in 1974, he received a talon for a Volga with the number 60-60. He was elected to the Tula Oblast Soviet of the Working People . In retirement he invented a machine for sealing tin cans at the request of his wife.
A Makarov monument was erected in Sassowo.
