Kapušianske Kľačany (until 1948 Slovak "Narad-Kľačany"; Hungarian Kaposkelecsény or Nyarádkelecsény ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 964 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Michalovce District of, part kraj Košický , heard, and in the traditional landscape Zemplín lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands , near the border with Ukraine . While the center and the northern half of the area are on an agricultural level, the southern half of the municipality is characterized by alluvial forests and the Latorica river . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 106 m nm and is four kilometers from Veľké Kapušany and 34 kilometers from Michalovce .
Neighboring communities are Veľké Kapušany in the west and north, Budince in the northeast, Ruská in the east, Veľké Slemence in the southeast and Boťany and Leles in the south.
history
The present municipality was created in 1943 through the merger of three places: Kľačany (Hungarian Magyarkelecsény - until 1907 Kelecsény ), Močiar (Hungarian Magyarmocsár - until 1907 Mocsár ) and Ňarád (Hungarian Ungnyarád - until 1907 Nyarád ).
Kľačany was first mentioned in writing as Kelechen in 1315 and belonged to several noble families, such as Palóchy , Dobi , Barkóczy and Pethö . In 1715 there were six inhabited households, in 1828 there were 39 houses and 324 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Močiar was first mentioned in writing as Mochar in 1400 . In 1451 the village belonged to the territory of the Nevicke Castle (located in today's Ukraine). In 1715 there were five inhabited households, in 1828 there were 39 houses and 308 inhabitants who were employed as fishermen, farmers and fruit growers.
Ňarád was first mentioned in writing as Narad in 1315 . In 1400 the village was the seat of the Nyarády family , in 1427 six porta were recorded according to a tax register. In 1715 Ňarád was deserted because of the flight of its subjects. In 1828 there were 23 houses and 189 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918/1919 the places in Ung County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , they were again part of Hungary from 1938 to 1944.

According to the 2011 census, Kapušianske Kľačany had 880 inhabitants, including 507 Magyars , 267 Roma , 79 Slovaks and one Pole . 26 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
567 residents committed themselves to the Reformed Church, 144 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 95 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident to the Evangelical Church AB; one resident professed a different denomination. 11 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 61 residents was not determined.
