Ložín (Hungarian Lazony ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 821 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Michalovce District of, part kraj Košický , heard, and in the traditional landscape Zemplín lies.

geography

The municipality is located in the middle of the East Slovak Lowlands , between the Ondava rivers to the west and Duša to the east of the village. The center of the village is at an altitude of 118  m nm and is 14 kilometers away from Michalovce .

Neighboring municipalities are Bánovce nad Ondavou in the north, Žbince in the east, Hatalov in the southeast and Bracovce in the south.

history

Ložín was first mentioned in writing in 1227 as a Lazon . Before 1332 there was already a parish with its own church. In the 14th century the village was owned by noble families, in 1400 by the Monaky family , in 1405 by Izépy , Cseley and finally by Szirmay in the 18th century . In 1715 there were 17 abandoned and 10 inhabited houses in Ložín. In 1787 the village had 43 houses and 393 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 83 houses and 608 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, fruit growers and cattle keepers. The population took part in the so-called East Slovakia Peasant Uprising in 1831 .

Until 1918/1919, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 812 people lived in Ložín, 710 of them Slovaks and one Magyar and one Russian . 100 inhabitants did not provide any information on ethnicity .

367 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 116 residents the Greek Catholic Church, 87 residents the Orthodox Church, 77 residents the Reformed Church, 39 residents the Evangelical Church AB and five residents the Jehovah's Witnesses; one resident professed a different denomination. 12 residents had no denomination and 108 residents had no denomination.
