Drahňov , Hungarian Deregnyő is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,558 (December 31, 2019) that the Michalovce District , part of the kraj Košický belonged and in the traditional landscape Zemplín lies.

geography

The municipality is located in the eastern Slovak lowlands at the confluence of Laborec and Uh . The center of the village is at an altitude of 106  m nm and is 11 kilometers from Veľké Kapušany and 21 kilometers from Michalovce .

Neighboring communities are Budkovce and Stretavka in the north, Krišovská Liesková in the east, Vojany in the south-east, Ižkovce in the south, Malé Raškovce in the south-west, Zemplínske Kopčany in the west and Slavkovce in the north-west.

history

Drahňov was first mentioned in writing in 1262 and belonged to local nobles. In the 14th century there was a toll station here, and the village developed into a market town probably from the 15th century. In 1600 there were 37 houses, a country palace, a church, a parish and a school. Shortly afterwards came the long downfall, so that in 1715 the village is mentioned as "abandoned" and in 1720 nine houses stood.

In 1828 there were 84 houses, with 605 residents mainly employed in agriculture.

Until 1918/1919 the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-1945 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Drahňov had 1,352 inhabitants, including 627 Roma , 299 Magyars , 284 Slovaks , six Czechs and one each from Poles , Russians and Ukrainians . 133 inhabitants did not give any information on ethnicity .

441 residents committed to the Reformed Church, 299 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 105 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 72 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, five residents to the Orthodox Church, four residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 256 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 167 inhabitants was not determined.
