Lastomír (Hungarian Lasztomér ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,210 (December 31, 2019) that the Michalovce District of, part kraj Košický heard, and in the traditional landscape Zemplín lies.

geography

The municipality is located in the northern part of the East Slovak Lowlands on the left bank of Laborec . The center of the village is at an altitude of 111  m nm and is seven kilometers away from Michalovce .

Neighboring municipalities are Michalovce (districts Močarany and Vrbovec ) in the north, Zemplínska Široká in the east, Žbince in the south, Vrbnica in the southwest and Šamudovce in the west.

history

Lastomír was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1288 as Lezthemer and for centuries it was owned by the lower nobility. In the late Middle Ages it was a large village, with 1305 to 1680 inhabitants living in the place between 1420 and 1460. At times there were also two places, Malý (so small) and Veľký (large) Lastomír. The 16th and 17th centuries were accompanied by constant armed conflicts and uprisings, which were also reflected in the townscape. In 1556 the whole village burned down, in 1600 there were 30 houses in the village, but Lastomír was subject to looting. In 1715 there were seven inhabited settlements and 27 abandoned. In 1828 there were 137 houses and 1001 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and fruit growers. In 1832 a sugar factory was located in the village. Between 1880 and 1910, many residents emigrated because of poverty.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Lastomír had 1,163 inhabitants, including 1,063 Slovaks , 45 Roma , seven Ukrainians , six Czechs , three Russians and one Magyar . 40 inhabitants did not give any information on ethnicity .

348 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 259 residents to the Reformed Church, 218 residents to the Orthodox Church, 109 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 31 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 16 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident of the Seventh Day Adventists and the Apostolic Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 54 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 124 inhabitants was not determined.
