Nina Ziegenhals (* 23. May 1982 in Bonn ) is a German ice hockey player who since 2007 in Bergkamen EC bears in the women hockey league on the position of the striker plays.

Career

Nina Ziegenhals began her career as an ice hockey player at the age of 10 at Hennefer EC . At the age of 14 she moved to TuS Wiehl and played there with a double license for the U20 juniors and at the same time in the women's Bundesliga team of KEV Hannover . Between 1998 and 2000, the TuS Wiehl operated a women's team that also took part in the Bundesliga. With this, Ziegenhals took third place in the 1999/2000 season .

During the 2000/01 season, in January 2001, she moved within the Bundesliga from KEV Hannover to TV Kornwestheim , with which she won three German championship titles until 2003 . At the same time she was active for the U20 juniors of TuS Whiel during the 2000/01 season. In 2001 she passed the Abitur examination and was then accepted into the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr to prepare for the 2002 Winter Olympics .

In the summer of 2003, Ziegenhals decided to study at Bemidji State University , for whose college ice hockey team BSU Beavers she played in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association until 2007 . Since her return to Germany, Ziegenhals has been under contract with the EC Bergkamener Bären , where she is no longer used as a defender but as a striker.

International

Between 1999 and 2005 Ziegenhals was a regular player in the women's national team . In total, she took part in four world championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics. In the latter, she finished sixth with the national team. Four years later, she was initially part of the expanded Olympic squad for the Winter Games in Turin , but ultimately received no appointment for the tournament. In total, she completed 104 international matches for Germany, in which she scored 10 points scorer.

Between 2010 and 2011, Ziegenhals was in charge of the national team as team leader and also took part in the 2011 World Cup in this role . The selection made it back up from Division I to the top division.
