(2009)

No Hay Banda ( Spanish for There is no band ) is the debut album by the Norwegian hard rock band Audrey Horne . It was released on June 3, 2005 via Tuba Records and is the only album the band has released as a sextet . No Hay Banda was awarded the Spellemann Prize.

Emergence

The eleven songs were written over a period of about a year. Most of the music was written by guitarist Arve Isdal and bassist Tom Cato Visnes . Since the band consisted of six musicians with different musical backgrounds at the time, there was a lot of discussion about the songs. Isdal stated in an interview years later that the people involved had to make a lot of compromises and the admission process was a painful experience.

The six musicians recorded the album in the Earshot Studio in Bergen, operated by keyboardist Herbrand Larsen . After the recordings, the songs were mixed in Los Angeles by Joe Barresi . The mastering was done by Peter In de Betou. For the songs Dead and Confessions and Alcohol were music videos rotated. The album title was inspired by a phrase in the film Mulholland Drive .
