Out of the City is a split - 7 "single by the Norwegian hard rock band Audrey Horne and the German blues rock band Zodiac . It was released on August 15, 2014 via Napalm Records .

Emergence

The two bands got to know each other in March 2014 on a joint European tour. Audrey Horne co-headlined with Swedish band Grand Magus while Zodiac supported it. In the summer of 2014, both bands independently recorded the new studio album Pure Heavy (Audrey Horne) and Sonic Child (Zodiac). It happened by chance that both bands recorded a song called Out of the City . The record label of the two bands Napalm Records then had the idea of releasing both songs on a 7 ″ single. The split single appears on white and gold vinyl in an edition of 300 copies each.

Audrey Hornes song Out of the City was based on a bassline written by Espen Lien , which he thought initially sounded like Southern Rock . After guitarists Arve Isdal and Thomas Tofthagen had arranged the song, the song was lizzyfied, according to singer Torkjell Rød , an allusion to the Irish band Thin Lizzy . For the song was in Berlin a music video rotated. The singer of the Swedish band Amon Amarth Johan Hegg and his wife Maria performed as guests . Audrey Horne's band members can be seen in the video as hand puppets .

reception

Marc Halupczok from the German magazine Metal Hammer called Audrey Hornes “Out of the City” a “good mood number”. Thomas Kupfer of Rock Hard magazine wrote in his review that Thin Lizzy's follow-up band , the Black Star Riders , would kill for a number like Out of the City .

The song by Zodiac was described by Oliver Paßgang from the online magazine Powermetal.de as a “really good rock song”, which “ gets a slightly bluesy note due to the spartan use of the piano , but it doesn't fit into this category”.
