Johan Hans Hegg (born April 29, 1973 ) is a Swedish musician and actor . He became known as the singer of the band Amon Amarth .

Career

The son of a police officer got into heavy metal in the early 1980s through a boy from the neighborhood . In 1992, after Paul “Themgoroth” Nordgrim left, he applied to Dark Funeral as the singer of the band Scum . After initial skepticism, he got the post after Hegg was sitting in a bar with the other musicians in the band and sang along with the song The Final Countdown by the band Europe growl . After further line-up changes, Scum changed their name to Amon Amarth and in the following years rose to become one of the most successful death metal bands in the world.

Hegg released eleven studio albums with Amon Amarth. In addition, he has appeared several times as a guest singer, including with the bands Purgatory , The Project Hate MCMXCIX and Evocation . In 2014, Hegg starred in the film Northmen - A Viking Saga . Also in 2014, Hegg and his wife played in the music video for the song Out of the City by the band Audrey Horne .

Johan Hegg is married and lives with his wife near Örebro . He originally worked in a supermarket and later as a sales representative for cheese and dairy products . After his band Amon Amarth became more and more successful, Hegg gave up this position and worked temporarily as a truck driver .
