Torkjell "Toschie" Rød (* 1971 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian singer and illustrator . He sings in the band Audrey Horne and was previously singer with Locomotive Gangbang and Sylvia Wane .

Career

The son of a musician first tried his hand at bass and later switched to singing. He started his music career in the early 1990s with the band Locomotive Gangbang. With this band he won the Kronstadfestivalen in 1992 . The song Revolution Rhyme on the 1992 sampler remained the band's only release. He then sang for the band Sylvia Wane, who released a single I Touch Myself on their own. In 2002 Rød joined the hard rock band Audrey Horne. With Audrey Horne Rød released six studio albums, of which the debut album No Hay Banda was awarded the Spellemannprisen in 2005.

In 2008 he appeared as a guest singer on the song From Conscious Sleep by the band Sahg . A year later he recorded on the Norwegian TV channel TV 2's entertainment program Det Store Korslaget , in which Norwegian celebrities put together and lead a choir who then compete against each other. Rød's choir took the penultimate place. Rød studied at the Art Academy in Bergen . Rød also illustrates album covers , including for his own band, and is active as a draftsman for daily newspapers. His main occupation is the Let's Buzz tattoo studio in Bergen. Torkjell Rød is married and has two daughters. Torkjell Rød also works as a tattoo artist.

His musical role models used to include classic rock singers such as David Coverdale ( Whitesnake ), Tony Harnell ( TNT ) or Sebastian Bach ( Skid Row ). When grunge and singers like Eddie Vedder ( Pearl Jam ) or Layne Staley ( Alice in Chains ) appeared in the early 1990s , Rød said that he made this more self-confident as a singer, as "it would be more about emotions than technology".
