Nome is a municipality in the center of the landscape Telemark in Fylke Vestfold og Telemark in Norway . Neighboring municipalities are Skien , Midt-Telemark , Kviteseid and Drangedal . The administrative center of the municipality is Ulefoss . Nome is on the Telemark Canal , more precisely on Norsjø .

history

Since 1652 iron ore was mined in the area of ​​the municipality , which created a basis for the Cappelen-Ulefoss Jernværk founded in 1657 , which still exists today. In 1926, the production of iron ore was stopped.

Ulefoss Herregård

The classicist manor was built by Jørgen Henrik Rawert for Niels Aall from 1802 to 1807 . It has a U-shaped floor plan. The ballroom on the first floor was badly damaged by fire in 1961.
