action

Willa Mercy grows up on a ranch in Montana run by her father Jack. Only when he dies does Willa meet her half-sisters Lily and Tess on the day of the funeral. Together, they inherit the farm worth 24 million US dollars . The condition attached to the inheritance is that they run the farm together for a year, otherwise it becomes the property of a nature conservation organization. The women don't like each other, but still cooperate.

As soon as the sisters got a little closer, they are confronted with mysterious attacks. An unknown perpetrator kills and cuts up animals on the farm, first a cow, then a dog. Lily suspects her abusive husband, Jesse Carne, who was released on parole and went into hiding some time ago. When she then wants to leave the farm, a solidarity can be felt between the sisters for the first time, who insist that Lily stay. The atrocities continue, first Willa's employee Pickles is murdered and then a young woman in a neighboring village.

In fact, Carne appears at the ranch, injures Adam Wolfchild, who has a date with Lily, and kidnaps her. Together with Sheriff Nate and her neighbor Ben McKinnon, who has loved Willa since they were children, the young woman takes on the pursuit of the kidnapper. Finally, Willa shoots Carne when he is dragging his ex-wife through a river.

It turns out that it was not Carne who was responsible for the murders, but Jim, a half-brother of the sisters who worked on the farm for years undetected. He lures Willa into an ambush and brings her into his power. He frankly admits that he killed the animals and pickles and the young woman. The Pickles murder was not planned and the young woman was a hooker who deserved death. When he tries to attack Willa with a knife, Ben and Sheriff Nate approach. Jim draws a gun and aims at Ben, whereupon he is shot by Nate.

Lily has found in Adam the man she has always dreamed of, becomes pregnant and remarries. Tess teams up with local sheriff Nate. Willa accepts Ben's marriage proposal. She agrees with her sisters that their father gave them something special: "a family". The sisters embrace warmly.
