geography
location
The Nordhelle is located in the north of the Rothaar Mountains and the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its summit rises 1.5 km east-northeast of the village of Silbach and 3 km southeast of Siedlinghausen , both of which are traversed by the Nameless River running west of the mountain , and 3.4 km south-west of Niedersfeld , located on the Ruhr . They are all districts of Winterberg , whose core city is around 5 km south-southeast of the summit. The west-southwest branch of the Nordhelle is the Silberberg ( 747.5 m ), its northeast branch is the Eschenberg ( 726 m ) with the Eschenberg ski area .
In the northeast rises in the transition region of the wooded Nordhelle to Esch Berg the Burmecke and on its south flank the Strülleken ; both are eastern nameless tributaries. About 4.5 km south-east is located on the summit Ruhr head the Ruhrquelle ; the Ruhr passes the Nordhelle at a minimum of 1.7 km (as the crow flies ) east-northeast in a south-north direction and is fed there by the Vossmecke brook, which rises south of the mountain and runs eastwards .
Natural allocation
The Nordhelle belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Winterberger Hochland (333.5) to the natural area Nordheller Heights (333.57).
Mountain height
The height of the 792.6 m high Nordhelle is usually given as around 775 m , which, however, refers to a trigonometric point at 775.4 m , which can be found on topographic maps around 200 m south of the mountain peak.
Protected areas
On the Nordhelle lies the nature reserve Silbacher Nordhelle ( CDDA -Nr. 389902), which was founded in 2008 and is 11 hectares in size, on its eastern flank the NSG Hausstätte (CDDA-Nr. 389766; 2008; 12 ha), south of the mountain (im Vossmecketal) the NSG In Stripes (CDDA No. 81996;. 1957; 49 ha), at the same time as fauna Habitats -region (FFH No. 4717-311;. is designated 30 ha), and the spurs Silberberg the Silberberg NSG (CDDA no. 389903; 2008; 20 ha). In addition, part of the LSG landscape protection area of the city of Winterberg extends to the mountain (CDDA no. 325127; 75.33 km²).
