At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1937 , which took place from February 14 to 18, 1937 in the French winter sports resort of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc , a Nordic Combined competition was held.

Of the 22 named athletes, 17 started cross-country skiing over 18 km, which the Norwegian Sigurd Røen won ahead of Gustl Berauer and Rolf Kaarby . Two athletes, the Frenchman Raymond Berthet and the Finn Lauri Valonen had to give up in the cross-country skiing race.

So only 15 athletes started in the jump run. The combined jumping was decided by the Nordic and Alpine all-rounder Per Fossum . A fifth place in ski jumping was enough for Sigurd Røen to secure his only individual world champion title in skiing . The Norwegian Rolf Kaarby and Aarne Valkama from Finland followed on the places . The two won their only medals at major events and thus each celebrated their personal career highlight.

Only representatives from six nations took part in the competition. There were no athletes from well-known skiing countries such as Sweden , Germany , Austria and Italy .
