North River Shores is a census-designated place (CDP) in Martin County in the US state of Florida with 3079 inhabitants (as of 2010).

North River Shores lies on the St. Lucie River and borders directly on the city of Stuart in the southeast . The CDP is affected by US Highway 1 and is about 160 km north of Miami .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3079 inhabitants were distributed over 1818 households. The population density was 905.6 inh / km². 95.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.6% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.2% as Asian Americans . 1.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 4.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 18.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 45.4% of all households. 57.5% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.08 people and the average family size was 2.66 people.

17.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 13.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 37.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 53 years. 47.0% of the population were male and 53.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,451, with 20.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 98.24% of the population and 1.76% spoke Spanish .
