Sewall's Point is a city in Martin County in the US state of Florida with 1996 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Sewall's Point is located on a narrow peninsula at the confluence of the St. Lucie River with the Indian River (part of the Intracoastal Waterway ) on the east coast of Florida. The city borders on Stuart to the west and is about 160 km north of Miami .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 1996 inhabitants were distributed over 927 households. The population density was 623.8 inh / km². 97.5% of the population identified themselves as white , 0.6% as African-American and 1.0% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.5% to several ethnic groups. 3.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 40.6% of all households lived in 29.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 79.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.52 people and the average family size was 2.81 people.
23.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 8.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 35.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 32.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 108,125, with 3.2% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.62% of the population, 1.85% spoke Spanish and 3.53% had another mother tongue.
