The powiat Oleski is a powiat (district) in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland with the district town of Olesno (Rosenberg OS) . The powiat has an area of 973.62 km², on which around 65,100 inhabitants live.
geography
The powiat is located in the northeast of the Opole Voivodeship. Neighboring powers are in the north Wieluń in the Łódź Voivodeship , in the east Kłobuck and Lubliniec (both Silesian Voivodeship ), in the south Strzelce Opolskie and in the west Opole and Kluczbork .
Historically, the area is part of Upper Silesia with the exception of the municipalities of Praszka and Rudniki .

The powiat comprises seven municipalities, four of which are urban-and-rural municipalities , whose main towns of the same name have municipal rights, and three rural municipalities .

The municipalities of Radlau and Zembowitz have been officially bilingual since 2006 by virtue of a municipal council resolution, since the German population in these municipalities is over 20%. The city of Guttentag has also been bilingual since May 2009.

The district administration is headed by a starost . Since 2018 this is Roland Fabianek from the German minority.
District council
The district council consists of 19 members who are elected by the population. The 2018 elections brought the following results:
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 20.8% of the vote, 3 seats
- Election committee German minority 18.4% of the votes, 6 seats
- Election committee “We work locally” 17.6% of the vote, 3 seats
- Koalicja Obywatelska (KO) 17.2% of the vote, 3 seats
- Election committee "Oleski - our future" 14.6% of the vote, 3 seats
- Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe (PSL) 7.2% of the vote, 1 seat
- Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (SLD) / Lewica Razem (Razem) 4.3% of the vote, no seat
