Olivia Elizabeth "Polly" Powrie , MNZM (born December 9, 1987 in Auckland ) is a former New Zealand sailor .
successes
Olivia Powrie, who sailed for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron , took part in two Olympic Games with the 470 dinghy . In 2012 in London , she and Jo Aleh became Olympic champion with a total of 35 points ahead of the British and Dutch boats . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won another medal with Jo Aleh. With 54 points they were beaten this time by the Britons Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark , but they kept all other competitors at a distance and thus won the silver medal. At world championships she won five medals with Jo Aleh with the 470 dinghy. In addition to a bronze medal and three silver medals, they became world champions in La Rochelle in 2013 . Powrie ended her athletic career in 2017.
At the end of 2012, like Aleh, she was named a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her Olympic success . In 2015 the World Sailing Association named Powrie and Aleh as World Sailors of the Year .
