The men's 100-meter run at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris was held on July 14, 1900 in the Croix Catelan . A total of 20 athletes took part. The preliminary round was divided into six runs with three to four athletes each. As in the 60-meter run and as in 1896 , the running tracks were separated from one another by ropes at calf height.
There was a US double victory by Frank Jarvis as gold and Walter Tewksbury as silver medalist. Like the next day, bronze went to Australian Stan Rowley over 60 meters .

From the semifinals, the best in each case - highlighted in light blue - immediately reached the final, while the second and third placed - highlighted in red - got another chance to reach the finals in a round of hope.
Semi-final 1
Duffey beat his personal best in the heats by 0.4 seconds. He won by a meter and a half over Rowley. |
Semi-final 2
Tewksbury set the world record and won by 15 centimeters. It is controversial whether the German Kurt Doerry started the race or not, the only thing that is certain is that he did not reach the goal. |

The entire field of participants was close together, so that Rowley could only win by two inches.

At the beginning Duffey was leading, but at about 50 meters he suffered a tendon overstretch so that he had to stop the race. Jarvis won by half a meter over Tewksbury and Rowley, who was another meter behind.
